Special Olympics Missouri Kicks Off Year 3 of Project UNIFY®

September 16, 2010

On September 8-9, Special Olympics Missouri Field Staff from across the state gathered at Tan-Tar-A resort to kick off Year 3 of Project UNIFY®.

“Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth” Field Staff Retreat

The theme was “Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth” and we talked about how we must manage our 3-ring circus and how we can incorporate Project UNIFY® in every aspect of what we do.  Needless to say, along with a lot of learning, we did do a little bit of “clowning around.”

Terri Johnson, Executive Director for Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC) presented a 2-hour session.  She conducted teambuilding activities and we brainstormed about ways MASC and SOMO can grown their partnership.   One way we will be increasing our involvement with students is by offering a Spread the Word to End the Word™ T-shirt design contest.  We will roll out the contest at the MASC District meetings in October and November.  The SOMO YAC will vote on a design and the winner will be announced at the MASC Winter Energizer conference January 16, 2011.
