Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling Finals

The 2014 Special Olympics Michigan State Poly Hockey and Unified Bowling Finals presented by Water Warriors will occur on November 22-23 in East Lansing, Michigan. The Poly Hockey event will be held at Eastern High School and the Fieldhouse in Lansing, Michigan. Poly Hockey is an adaptive sport similar to floor hockey where athletes use plastic hockey sticks and pucks and play on a flat surface. The poly hockey competition will consist of both team play and an individual skills contests. The Unified Bowling competition will take place at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing, Michigan. Unified bowling pairs Special Olympics athletes with athletes without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Please use the link below for a complete schedule of events and competition.

For the first time ever, Special Olympics will have a team riding in the Special Olymipcs El Tour de Tucson on November 22! In 2014, Special Olympics partnered with Perimeter Bicycling Association of America to be the primary beneficiary of El Tour de Tucson, one of the largest amateur bicycling events in Arizona. Founded in 1983, El Tour started as a 198-person event. Now, more than 30 years later, El Tour attracts around 8,000 riders annually with an estimated 35,000 spectators. Special Olympics Ontario is hosting our 2015 Provincial Winter Games from January 29 – Feb 1st, 2015 in North Bay, Ontario. We have a few spaces available in our Speed Skating Competition and would like to extend an invitation to your speed skating athletes to attend. Cost $50 per athlete which includes 3 nights of accommodation, all meals, opening and closing ceremonies, athlete’s victory dance and ground transportation once you arrive at the games. Teams are responsible for their own travel to and from the event. As this is a qualifying competition for National Games for us, we require all athletes to use regulation speed skates. What is the Skating Championships? The Skating Championships are one of 9 state sports competitions. It is the culminating competition for those participating in figure skating and speed skating. The Skating Championships are hosted at Canlan Ice Sports in Romeoville, Illinois. International Bocce Competition

You are invited to attend the 2015 International Invitational Bocce Competition to be held April 30 - May 2, 2015. The competition will be hosted on the beautiful campus of Seneca College, King Campus located just 30 minutes north of Toronto Ontario Canada. The event will include opening and closing ceremonies, sightseeing opportunities, formal medal presentations, an athlete’s dance as well, all teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games over two days of competition. Registration fees for this event are $75 per athlete. Registration fees include the following: Three nights of accommodation; Meals on four days (breakfast, lunch and dinner); Snacks and refreshments; Transportation to and from the airport (as needed); 4 games of bocce (minimum); Medals for all athletes; Victory Dance. Teams choosing to arrive before April 30th will be required to pay an additional $25 per athlete which will include: Sightseeing opportunities; Accommodation for a maximum of two additional nights; Meals for a maximum of two additional days. All teams are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from the competition. Travel subsidy may be available for international teams. All athletes and coaches must be registered and members in good standing with their respective Special Olympics chapters/organizations. Due to our space limitations, we are unable to offer a Unified Event.

Illinois Summer Games

Summer Games is Special Olympics Illinois premiere sports competition with more than 4,000 athletes and Unified Partners competing in 6 different sports, along with 1,600 coaches, 2,500 volunteers and 3,300 family members. That totals more than 11,400 people who attend Summer Games! The Summer Games are held at Illinois State University in Normal and the Illinois Wesleyan University campus in Bloomington. A variety of activities are provided for the participants in addition to the sports competitions. Competition will be offered in athletics, aquatics, bocce, Unified bocce, gymnastics, football (soccer) and powerlifting. World Summer Games Los Angeles 2015
