Young Athletes in Israel play Unified

For the first time in Israel a Young Athletes Unified event takes place in Alumim under the National theme of 'The Different One is Me'

'The Different One is Me'

In Ramat Hasharon there are five special education kindergartens for children aged between 3 and 6. The sports hall of the 'Alumim' school in the city was used for a Special Olympics Young Athletes Unified event involving pupils from the 7th grade who are 12 and 13 years of age and the Young Athletes between the ages of 3 and 6 years. The national theme for all schools in Israel this year is 'The different one is me'.  The 7th grade pupils were introduced to Special Olympics with a talk by the coordinator from SO Israel. The young athletes were busy moving through the different sport events as the pupils and teachers cheered them on. Parents and grandparents also came to watch and support the athletes. At the end of the day Special Olympics medals were awarded to all the Young Athletes by their new Unified friends from the school. Popsicles, a gift from the school, were very much appreciated by the Young Athletes and their new pals.
