“Freezin for a Reason!” Raise money to support the athletes of Special Olympics North Dakota at the Dickinson Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 28th. We want 2015 to be our biggest and best Polar Plunge year ever, and we need your help! The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraiser organized by North Dakota Law Enforcement as part of the year-round Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise awareness and fund to benefit Special Olympics North Dakota. Polar Plunges offer a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support Special Olympics North Dakota athletes by raising money and taking the plunge into frigid North Dakota waters. Plungers raise a minimum of $75 for the opportunity to take the plunge. Big House 5k: Trail to the Victors

The second annual Big House 5K: Trail to the Victors presented by Toyota is an exciting running event for the regional Midwest area. The University of Michigan's rich athletics tradition began in 1865 and continues to this day, with the Wolverines claiming more than 50 national championships in 12 sports. Our students, faculty and staff also regularly participate in dozens of intramural, club sport and fitness activities. The race, owned and managed by the University of Michigan Athletic Department working in conjunction with the Ann Arbor Track Club, is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, and will begin near the Stephen M. Ross Athletic Campus and finish on the field of the revered University of Michigan football stadium, the Big House.

International Bocce Competition

You are invited to attend the 2015 International Invitational Bocce Competition to be held April 30 - May 2, 2015. The competition will be hosted on the beautiful campus of Seneca College, King Campus located just 30 minutes north of Toronto Ontario Canada. The event will include opening and closing ceremonies, sightseeing opportunities, formal medal presentations, an athlete’s dance as well, all teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games over two days of competition. Registration fees for this event are $75 per athlete. Registration fees include the following: Three nights of accommodation; Meals on four days (breakfast, lunch and dinner); Snacks and refreshments; Transportation to and from the airport (as needed); 4 games of bocce (minimum); Medals for all athletes; Victory Dance. Teams choosing to arrive before April 30th will be required to pay an additional $25 per athlete which will include: Sightseeing opportunities; Accommodation for a maximum of two additional nights; Meals for a maximum of two additional days. All teams are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from the competition. Travel subsidy may be available for international teams. All athletes and coaches must be registered and members in good standing with their respective Special Olympics chapters/organizations. Due to our space limitations, we are unable to offer a Unified Event.

Unified Relay Across America - District of Columbia Relay Legs

The Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America presented by Bank of America, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for America to unify to build communities of respect and inclusion. Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange, people throughout the nation will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope across the country and deliver it to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games. The Unified Relay will be three simultaneous routes hitting all 50 states and will be led by celebrity and Special Olympics athlete co-captains and supported by law enforcement officers. The District of Columbia relay legs will begin on May 26th in downtown Washington DC at 7:00 AM, continuing through the Arboretum, then a second relay leg, Colmar Manor to College Park will be run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Thursday May 28th the relay continues with a relay leg from Largo to Barney Circle taking place between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM and then with a final opportunity to participate from DC to Alexandria between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Nevada State Summer Games

Four hundred athletes and their volunteer coaches will come together at the University of Nevada, Reno to experience the thrill of competing against other athletes from all over Nevada. After weeks of training and participating at a qualifying competition, athletes will compete in aquatics or track & field in state-of-the-art collegiate athletic facilities on the UNR campus. Over 500 volunteers were on hand to fill a variety of volunteer positions over the course of the weekend. Summer Games is the culminating Championship for aquatics and track & field and is one of the largest Special Olympics sporting competitions in Nevada. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

Massachusetts State Summer Games

The official start of the Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games begins with the traditional Opening Ceremony at Boston University. Highlights include remarks from special guests, one of our athletes acting as master of ceremonies, the Parade of Athletes, the Special Olympics Massachusetts flag relay and presentation and finally the culminating Torch Lighting Ceremony, by the Guardians of the Flame–our partners in the LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY. Saturday morning the games will begin on the grounds of the Harvard University athletic facilities, surrounding historic Harvard Stadium. Over 1,900 ATHLETES compete in the sports of aquatics, gymnastics, powerlifting, tennis, track & field and volleyball.

Summer Games, our largest State Games, is nothing short of legendary thanks to the overwhelming support of more than 3,000 local volunteers who brave the summer heat to assist more than 1,300 Special Olympics Virginia athletes each June. Athletes come from all corners of the state to compete in bocce, swimming, softball, track & field, bowling, powerlifting, and tennis at the University of Richmond and surrounding venues in Richmond. Illinois State Summer Games

Summer Games is Special Olympics Illinois premiere sports competition with more than 4,000 athletes and Unified Partners competing in 6 different sports, along with 1,600 coaches, 2,500 volunteers and 3,300 family members. That totals more than 11,400 people who attend Summer Games! The Summer Games are held at Illinois State University in Normal and the Illinois Wesleyan University campus in Bloomington. Unified Relay Across America in Texas

Texans! The #UnifiedRelay will travel through our state in June and YOU can run/cycle to help move the World Games Torch across the U.S. The Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America, presented by Bank of America, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the United States to unite to build communities of respect and inclusion. Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange, people throughout the nation will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope across the country and deliver it to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics Word Games. The Unified Relay will be three simultaneous routes hitting all 50 states and will be led by celebrity and Special Olympics athlete co-captains and supported by law enforcement officers. Guess what: we will have more than 800 segments in Texas in June, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to participate. Walk, run or cycle your segment, either alone or as a team.

That's right...we're an accounting firm and we "Run the Numbers," but when we aren't busy doing tax returns, we like to raise money for local Maine charities! Saturday, June 20, 2015 will mark the 6th Annual PFBF CPAs road race. The race, “Run the Numbers” 5K & Kids Fun Run will be professionally timed and will start and end at the office of PFBF CPAs located at 46 First Park Drive, Oakland, Maine. This year's event proceeds will support the athletes of Special Olympics Maine. The Kids Fun Run will start and finish in the parking lot of PFBF CPAs at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m. Register before June 6th and receive a Sport-Tek race shirt! The Special Olympics Golf Classic is in its eighth year and continues to be successful in not only raising funds for Special Olympics Michigan Area 11 but also raising awareness of the program. Venetian Masquerade Charity Ball and Pirate Island Kids Fest

On July 18th, during St Clair Shores Aquafest (formerly the Venetian Festival) we are holding two events. The third annual Pirate Island Kids Fest and our first annual Venetian Masquerade Charity Ball. The former is a pirate themed event for kids held on the Nautical Mile in St Clair Shores Michigan. There are pirates running games for the kids and vendors selling pirate wares. We take kids out on a little boat ride with Captain Fishbones the Pirate Captain. It is a FREE event to attend. This year it is being held during the city's annual Aquafest. The latter evenings event is a masquerade ball hosted by Captain Fishbones and his Crew of the Forgiven Pirates. The gala will be held at the Jefferson Yacht Club. There will be pirate and renaissance themed artisans and music and costumes. We will raise money through a silent auction and raffle to donate to the local chapter(s) of the Special Olympics Michigan. We are sponsored by the Nautical Mile Yacht Club and the Nautical Mile Merchants Assocation.

Today, the Templeton Foundation gave its most prestigious award to my hero, Jean Vanier.  For Linda and our children and me, he has also been our retreat leader, our teacher of humility, our guide.
