Sharing One Language: Sport

Special Olympics unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports everyday around the world. We use sports as a catalyst to build inclusive communities and enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The South East Asia Unified Football Tournament on
1-2 September welcomes teams from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Plus, for the first time we include two teams featuring our newest competitors in football: Women!

Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team and is inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

Adopting-A-Team

By adopting a team, your group has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these incredible individuals, build camaraderie within your organization, and promote physical well-being in the community. When you adopt a team, you will not only change the lives of Special Olympics athletes, you can change the lives of those in your community.

Support these amazing athletes by “Adopting-A-Team.” Make banners or signs to cheer your team on to victory! A great team building opportunity for corporate groups, schools, community organizations, scout troops, churches, neighborhood associations, grassroots organizations, family groups, clubs and sports associations.

  • Wear your adopted team’s colours, create signage or banners with your team’s name, cheer for your team throughout the tournament.
  • Attend one day or two, it’s your choice!
  • Entry into a draw for the opportunity to present medals at the Awards Ceremony.
  • Opportunity for Fan photos with your team.
  • Show your organization’s spirit! Put your logo or organization name on your signage or come wearing your organization’s t-shirt or uniform.
  • You will be notified of your team assignment prior to the tournament. Specific team requests may be made, but cannot be guaranteed.
