WarpSpeed to lead plans for ‘A Very Special Christmas®’ Series
Washington, DC - Special
Olympics announced today that WarpSpeed has been selected as the
Marketing Agency of Record for the 'A Very Special
Christmas®' album series. WarpSpeed brings expertise
and experience in marketing and will lead strategic planning around
the advertising, marketing and public relations for the
groundbreaking music series. The strategic plans include
promotion of two new releases: "A Very Special Christmas
25th Anniversary" on Big Machine Records and "A
Very Special Christmas: Bringing Peace on Earth" on Word Records
through new digital platforms and non-traditional marketing
channels.
Since 1987, the biggest and brightest voices in the recording
industry have generously lent their time and talents to Special
Olympics to create the 'A Very Special Christmas®' holiday album
series, the single most successful benefit recording series in
musical history, generating more than $100 million in royalties to
benefit Special Olympics programs most in need around the
world. The album series celebrates its 25th
anniversary this year.
"This is a historic time for Special Olympics and 'A Very
Special Christmas®' as we celebrate the
25th anniversary of the album series." said Dr.
Timothy P. Shriver, Chairman and CEO of Special Olympics. "In order
to maximize the potential around this album series that has done so
much to support our Special Olympics athletes worldwide, we decided
to bring Warpspeed's innovation, expertise and passion to the team
to help us grow the 'A Very Special Christmas®' series .
Their unique capability in matching content, commerce and cause is
bringing new and exciting opportunities for traditional and
nontraditional partners to join together to make a greater impact
this 25th anniversary year and bring joy to the world."
"I am humbled for WarpSpeed to join this effort to benefit
Special Olympics and those with intellectual disabilities
globally. We are thrilled Special Olympics has entrusted us
to lead the strategy for the future of this incredible album series
that was started by the talented visionary, Jimmy Iovine." said Lou
Raiola, President & CEO of WarpSpeed. "WarpSpeed is seeking
other partners to join this effort of bringing joy to the world
through the 'A Very Special Christmas®' album
series."
