Washington, D.C. - The Special Olympics International
Board of Directors is the ultimate governing authority for the
Special Olympics movement and is comprised of leaders in the areas
of business, government, disability, sports and entertainment. The
Board is responsible for the global affairs and strategies of
Special Olympics, determines its policies and programs, and
oversees all top-level management.
"We are tremendously grateful for the many years of previous
service Bill Alford has dedicated to Special Olympics and are
thrilled he is rejoining our Board," said Janet Froetscher, CEO of
Special Olympics. "Bill made many valuable contributors during his
time on the Board of Directors. As Chair of the Research and Policy
Committee, he made important and generous contributions of his time
and legal expertise which advanced our research and advocacy on
behalf of people with intellectual disabilities worldwide."

Glenn S. Lyon to our Board. As Chairman and CEO of Finish Line,
Glenn brings extraordinary business acumen and a strategic
perspective. Finish Line is a well-known sports brand and great
partner to us and we are honored to have Glenn join our Board to
help us further our mission," said Froetscher.
"Additionally, we are pleased to
welcome Peter Mazunda, Chairman of Special Olympics Malawi who was
selected by the Africa leadership council to serve as its
representative on the International Advisory Committee and Special
Olympics International Board of Directors," said Froetscher.
"Mr. Mazunda serves as Managing Director for Xtra Solutions
Communications Group and is a renowned documentary film maker
who has produced films and documentaries in Malawi and
