Golf is a precision club and ball sport, in which competing players (or golfers) use many types of clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a golf course using the fewest number of strokes. The game is played on golf courses, each of which features a unique design, although courses typically consist of either nine or 18 holes.

Unified Golf Changing the Game

Eighteen Special Olympics athletes paired up with some celebrity guests for an exciting round of golf at the Special Olympics World Games in L.A. Among the celebrity guests was Jon Derr, a Special Olympic athlete.View Story Eighteen Special Olympics athletes paired up with some celebrity guests for an exciting round of golf at the Special Olympics World Games in L.A. Among the celebrity guests was Jon Derr, a Special Olympic athlete.Jon, from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, has been involved in Special Olympics since the age of seven and competes in a number of disciplines including golf, basketball, soccer and track. He placed third in the world at golf in the Special Olympic World Games in 1995 at New Haven and is the only Special Olympics athlete to be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.The Unified Golf event demonstrated the true power of inclusion. Celebrities and guests who participated today included Beverly Johnson, George Lopez, Miss United States 2015 Summer Priestly, PGA Professional Tony Letendre, O.D. Vincent Executive Director PGA Northern Trust Open, Ann Costello Executive Director Golisano Foundation and Special Olympics International Global Messenger Johanna Pramstaller.

My family and close friends are very proud of me with my life playing golf. I played for high school and did great in it. When I play for Special Olympics I always win.View Story My name is Omar Brihoum. I'm a golfer. I've been doing it since March 2007 or age 11. I have autism and ADHD. I'm currently 19 years old and high school graduated. I just love my sport or my game of golf. My P.E coach in Elementary school was the first person to introduce to golf at the age of 11. I've won 2 states and 2 district championships for special Olympics. My family and close friends are very proud of me with my life playing golf. I played for high school and did great in it. My dream is to become a HVAC Technician and own my own company. When I play for Special Olympics I always beat everyone and win. My father is an electrical engineer and investor and my mother doesn't usually work but she has 2 masters degree in accounting and business. I graduated high school at Oak Ridge. I had a a lot of problems in my life being autistic it was very rough for me. Thank God to my parents, doctors and friends they have recovered me a lot.

Members of the Team Ireland Special Olympics squad preparing to compete in Golf at LA 2015 visited the recent Irish Open and got some tips from major winners Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington. Members of the Team Ireland Special Olympics squad preparing to compete in Golf at LA 2015 visited the recent Irish Open and got some tips from major winners Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington. "Its been really cool and a lot of fun to meet these athletes" said Graeme McDowell. "Representing your country is a true honour. These athletes have been through a lot in their lives but keep it all in perspective". The team members received an invitation from The European Tour to meet the Irish golfers at last week's tournament at Royal County Down in Northern Ireland. The 2015 State Outdoor Games will be held in Fort Jefferson City, Missouri from March 27-29. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. on September 25th and go until 5 p.m. on March 27th.
