Christa White, Senior Vice President of Global Development and Government Relations

Christa Skerry White is Senior Vice President, Global Development and Government Relations for Special Olympics. Based at the Special Olympics global headquarters in Washington, D.C., she is responsible for creating and managing national and multinational strategies and partnerships  - with governments, the global development community, private sector entities, and civil society organizations - in support of individuals with intellectual disabilities worldwide.

Prior to joining the Special Olympics, Ms. White served for two years as Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Management with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) supporting worldwide operations.  

From 2004 to 2013, Ms. White served in a variety of other key leadership positions in Washington, DC. She was USAID's Senior Development Adviser to the Pentagon from 2012-2013, and USAID's Executive Secretary and Senior Adviser to the USAID Administrator for national security affairs from 2010-2012. From 2007-2009, she was the Director for Afghanistan with the National Security Council, where she was responsible for economic governance and development issues and civilian-military cooperation. From 2004 to 2007, she served as Senior Adviser for Early Warning and Conflict Prevention in the State Department's Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization.

Ms. White worked abroad for 16 years prior to relocating to Washington, DC. She managed post-conflict stabilization and reconstruction programs for USAID's Office of Transition Initiatives in Afghanistan and Macedonia, and managed USAID economic assistance programs in Nepal. She also served as Country Director for the Center for Development and Population Activities in Nepal, managing community development programs and improving women's political and economic participation.    

Ms. White holds a Bachelor's Degree in English language and literature from Smith College and a Master's Degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.

She lives in Virginia with her husband COL (Ret.) Guy White.
