Special Olympics Louisiana

By Rose Marie Garrett

I went to special education in 1970, that when I started Special Olympics. It brought me out more. I have done so much. I also been on the Board of Directors for the athletes, athlete leadership. I now talk to the athletes about what they like about Special Olympics. I try to teach them the right way to bowl. I used to have a 170 average back in the 1980, but now I only have 130 average, because of my health, I don't bowl a lot. I was a powerlifter at one time. I went to Connecticut for the World Games and got BEST OVER ALL. I am still involved in Special Olympics. I do bocce, bowling and swimming. I have polycystic kidney diesase and I don't do a lot like I used to. I am on the kidney transplant list. I would like to do more talking for Special Olympics. I would love to be a Global Messenger, but I was never picked for it. Please call Special Olympics Louisiana for pictures.
