2013 Final Leg Torch Runners are an International Team

By Erika Morant

Carrying the Flame of Hope during the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece.

More than 100 law enforcement officers from 19 countries will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope through the Republic of Korea in the days leading up to the World Winter Games in PyeongChang. Eight Special Olympics athletes from five countries will run with the officers on two routes through the wintry countryside.

The Final Leg is a symbol of the numerous fundraising events that happen every year to make fundraising by law enforcement officers the biggest single source of donations to Special Olympics. The international team will be in 10 teams and the teams will run along two routes. Both routes wind through Korea and pass through cities in all parts of the country.

The runs start 23 January and conclude 29 January at the main stage of the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang. See the link to the Law Enforcement Final Leg website below.
