The Impact of One Athlete: Tyler Cormier

By Annette Lynch

Tyler Cormier

Here's a moving story about pro baseball player A.J. Pollack of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and his friendship with Special Olympics athlete Tyler Cormier.

Pollack spoke at a Special Olympics Unified Sports® Youth Leadership Summit at Wesleyan University.

He talked about being a professional baseball player and, even more importantly, about his experience as a Unified Sports® Partner and friend of Tyler Cormier, who passed away in 2007.

Pollack was a pallbearer at his friend's funeral.

"Just being at his funeral and seeing the whole community there…you could just see the kind of impact he had on everyone."
