Norway's "Wild Card" is already a Winner

By Elin Kjølseth

Ivar is one of Special Olympics Norway's Cross Country Skiers. He was also part of the Norwegian Delegation in the World Winter Games in Boise, and was only selected for PyeongChang 2013 just last minute, because another athlete dropped out. He is the only skier with an intellectual disability in his region, so all his training has been on his own or with his parents, who travel throughout all of Norway so he can participate in competitions. He is very shy, but completely livens up when at gatherings with other skiers with a disability. He shows how much people with disabilities benefit from being with their peers, making friends and supporting each other.

About Elin Kjølseth: I am Marketing & Corporate Relations Manager for Special Olympics Norway.
