Athlete Katherine St. Amand Enjoys the Honor of Running in the Final Leg

By Susan St. Amand

Katherine St. Amand

Katherine left on Sunday, January 20, 2013 for Korea. She had three days of running the LETR Final Leg under her belt! She was very excited to be on her way, and had trained hard over the past few months to get to get there. She was a member of Team 10, and ran Route 2. She’s proud to have been invited to take part in such an amazing event. She had a great time, and loved the Opening Ceremonies. This is part of a letter that Katherine wrote to her supporters: “I am heading to Korea as one of 8 international Special Olympics athletes, joining 2 Korean athletes for the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg of the Special Olympics World Winter Games. I will be a proud member of Team 10." The LETR's support of Special Olympics has already helped me in so many ways, and I've met so many wonderful law enforcement officers by volunteering to help them where I can. I am very proud to be a part of the Special Olympics Global Movement and I hope you join with me by supporting this great cause.

About Susan St. Amand: This letter was sent to me, Krishna Tailor of Special Olympics Alberta, from Susan St. Amand, Katherine's mother. Susan is extremely proud of her daughter and her accomplishments.
