GYAS Team Oregon Meets up With Special Olympics Oregon Snowboarding Athlete at World Games

By Caitlynn Cantrell, Stanley Stimson

My name is Caitlynn Cantrell I am a High School student from McMinnville Oregon here at 2013 Special Olympics Global Youth Activation Summit. Before leaving to South Korea I read a story in the local paper about our Special Olympics Oregon Snowboarding Athlete Henry Meece. While traveling around different sports venues, watching different outside winter games, I was so shocked to cross paths with him as we were walking up and down the snow. He is such an inspiration, I was so proud and honored to have shook his hand and give a loving supportive hug, to let him know how much it means to team Oregon to have him representing us in the 2013 Special Olympics. Stanley Stimson is my Special Olympics Oregon Athlete Partner, reflecting on our day out on the snow he talked about how happy it made him feel to be so lucky to meet Henry.
