A record number of athletes received health screenings at World Games in Korea.

Special Olympics athletes received free health screenings in a single day during
the World Winter Games PyeongChang 2013 than at any other time in the history of
Healthy Athletes. An astounding 2,569 screenings were provided on February 1
alone. Over the course of the Games, volunteer health care workers provided a
total of 6,848 screenings. From the 300 athletes who received follow-up care in
the make-shift 4-chair dental clinic to the 55 athletes from 36 countries who
are returning home to appointments to get fitted for free hearing aids, the
impact of Healthy Athletes is immeasurable. Just ask Ludovic Jaques from
Switzerland whose previously unknown high ocular pressure was treated in Korea,
or Shawn Myers from Jamaica who could have died while competing had his
dangerously high blood pressure not been discovered at Healthy
Athletes.
