I was excited that the program offered free leadership training and nervous that it would be another commitment on an already busy schedule. I am so glad that I went for it. Throughout the program I was very impressed with the instructors and material presented. The staff valued our time as volunteers and it showed. The first session included Covey’s 7 Habits for Managers and an introduction to Prezi, a fresh approach to presentations that I now use on a regular basis. After graduation I looked back at the experience and found that it was not a strain on my time. I made many new friends who are key players in the Montana Special Olympics movement. SOMTU has expanded my leadership skills both in my role as a Special Olympics and Torch Run volunteer as well as my role as a spokesman for the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office where I work. Thank you SOMTU!
