Special Olympics NC on the Road with AAA

By Megan O'Donnell

The AAA Carolinas/Special Olympics NC tow truck will be on the roads supporting motorists in Charlotte.

Whether it’s planning your vacation, finding the best route to take to your destination or providing roadside assistance, AAA membership is synonymous with support but in 2013 AAA is taking their commitment to service to a new level. AAA Carolinas has partnered with the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics North Carolina to become an official statewide sponsor. AAA Carolinas is out to make a difference one tow at a time by raising awareness and support for charitable organizations. The goal is show their care extends beyond the roadways and into the community. Their financial support is coupled with a flat bed tow truck painted Special Olympics red and covered with the Special Olympics North Carolina logo and tag line “Revealing the Champion in all of us.” The truck hit the roads in Charlotte in mid-March, generating awareness and support for Special Olympics NC athletes. “We are very appreciative of AAA Carolina's support of Special Olympics North Carolina through the NC Law Enforcement Torch Run,” said Keith L. Fishburne, Special Olympics NC president/CEO. “The painted tow truck is such an innovative concept and I’m sure it will garner attention and attract new support and awareness in the Charlotte community.” AAA Carolina also plans to have the tow truck as part of the 2013 Special Olympics World’s Largest Truck Convoy leg in Charlotte on September 21.
