Allison Roper, Share My Story

By Allison Roper, East Carolina University, Junior

Hi, I am Allison Roper, and I am a junior at East Carolina University. This weekend was my first time volunteering at competitions with Special Olympics, and I am really glad that I did it. The experience really made me appreciate the things that I have after seeing all of the athletes who are so happy about just being able to compete in the competitions. One of the girls that I was working with won first place and the smile that she had when she got her medal was amazing. Even if they don’t win a medal, the happiness that they have is just wonderful.
