Special Olympics Welcomes New IOC President

By Suzanne Coogan

Dr. Bach was a keynote speaker at the Special Olympics Germany National Games held in Bremen in 2010

“On behalf of the entire Special Olympics Movement, I congratulate Dr. Thomas Bach on becoming the new International Olympic Committee (IOC) President. We are thrilled for him on his appointment to this hugely important position. Dr. Bach has been a dedicated supporter for many years of our Special Olympics Germany Program and he was instrumental in making Special Olympics Germany a full member of the German Olympics Sports Association. We look forward to a future of collaboration with President Bach as we continue to build sports for all and instill the Olympic ideals and values throughout the world. We sincerely thank former IOC President Jacques Rogge for his friendship and support and we are truly excited he has agreed to become Honorary Chair of the 2014 Special Olympics European Games.”
