Euroleague tell a story of brotherly love
As part of Euroleague Basketball’s two week efforts to shine the spotlight on how Special Olympics athletes are transforming their lives through basketball, the home page of Euroleague.net was dedicated to tell the story of Special Olympics Italy athlete Mauro.
On the tenth anniversary of European Basketball Week, Mauro is also celebrating 10 years of training basketball with Special Olympics. In that decade, his brother has seen Mauro blossom like never before, a testimony to the power of sport to positively change lives.
"The support given by Euroleague clubs and players to One Team and Special Olympics helps raise awareness of efforts to empower people with intellectual disabilities to live full lives in their communities” says Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Euroleague Basketball and One Team Programme Director Isabel Gultresa. “At the same time, it educates the broader public as to the vitality and talents of intellectually disabled men and women among us."
