Macy Bouchard (10) tests out the new balancing device created by bioengineering majors Kylie Balotin and Kelsey Nanneman, chemical and biological engineering major Mickyle Stanbury and mechanical engineering major Austin James.
ABC 13 in Houston, TX, reported: "Rice University engineering students got a chance to show their stuff on Saturday, from flight apps to biomedical creations, a showcase on campus featured inventions made by the students. But one creative idea will help a Special Olympics gymnast stand on her own."
Special Olympics athlete Macy Bouchard's parents wrote, "Please see the video regarding an assistive device created by some very bright Rice University engineering students that allows our daughter to compete on the beam independently. Great project for our daughter, fantastic to see young engineers focused on assisting the disabled and a wonderful story for Special Olympics."
