"Be Socksy for a Day" - Awareness campaign for Down Syndrome athletes at Special Olympics Romania

On 21st March, the World Down Syndrome Day, Special Olympics Romania put together an awareness campaign meant to draw attention to the abilities and potential of people with Down syndrome. The campaign was carried out on Facebook. It challenged people to wear mismatched socks, take of photo of themselves with the socks and post the photo on their Facebook accounts, with the hashtags #suntsocksy ("I'm socksy" in English), #sindromdown and #specialolympicsromania. The funkiest photos won matched and mismatched socks from entrepreneurial limited series sock producers. In addition, Starbucks Romania redirected the money for orders received on 21st March from people wearing mismatched socks to Special Olympics Romania. As well, a local sports company - 7card - organized a "socksy" auction, i.e. painting made especially for Special Olympics Romania and depicting socks, with the proceeds going to Special Olympics Romania.
