Panama Makes Strong Commitment to Rights of People with ID

The government of Panama is pledging its strong support for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities. This formal commitment was announced during the International Sport for Development Forum on “Inclusive Strategies for Equity” in Panama City, Panama. The forum was held alongside the III Latin American Games, with funding from the Interamerican Development Bank and support from the Panamanian government. The gathering brought together leaders of the public and private sectors, social and sporting federations committed to equal rights for people with disabilities, social entities and other leaders. The goal was to strengthen the commitment in Latin America and the Caribbean for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, promoted under the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention of the Rights for People with Disabilities.
