Charlie Boy

One of my best friends when I was about 6 years old was Charlie Boy. He had Down syndrome, and he was funny, kind hearted and loved to play with me and my younger sister. When we moved from the neighborhood, I saw him again 20 years later at a grocery store. He was walking with his elderly mother, and her arm was wrapped in his as he assisted her through the store. I got tears in my eyes, remembering what a sweet friend he was to me, and seeing what a fine, blessing of a man he had become. Because of knowing Charlie Boy, I have always had a special place in my heart for people with Down syndrome. May God bless them!! <3
