We interviewed Miss Tony Abrahams, one of the clinical volunteers who volunteered during the Special Olympics South Africa Healthy Athlete Screening held at Mitchell’s Plain school of skills in Cape Town.

Tony works at Lenteguer Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Town where she offers her services to children and adults with an intellectual disability. She said taking part in the screening was an "amazing and eye opening experience" for her.

She added that she had never heard of an organisation such as Special Olympics South Africa and that this organisation offers so much for people with Intellectual disabilities.

In closing she said, "Parents need to look past their child’s disability and take responsibility for them as well as protect them from abuse."
