Athletes in the Mpumalanga Province celebrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver

By committing acts of inclusion, acceptance and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities, we will continue to build on the Eunice Kennedy Shriver's legacy.

Mrs Eunice Kennedy Shriver started this organisation 49 years ago to provide opportunities for people with an intellectual disability in her back yard. Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day is an annual celebration of her life and a global call to action for people to live in a more unified society in sport, in the community and in the work place. What an incredible legacy!

The Special Olympics South Africa team was out in Mpumalanga in 4 districts running a Unified "Skillz for Life" camp for over 500 athletes and partners. A fitting way to pay tribute to our founder, Mrs Shriver. The Special Olympics movement has come a long way, the journey of having an inclusive South Africa still continues. We are indeed honoured to have had Mrs Shriver and are grateful that her vision has helped bring change into the lives of individuals living with and without an Intellectual Disability across the globe.
