Turkey’s 2nd Largest National Games staged in Denizli

Turkey’s 2nd largest Special Olympics National Games featured competition among 780 athletes from all over the country. Denizli staged the Games from 11 October to 13 October, 2017. Athletes competed in 7 sports - Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Unified Volleyball, Unified Football, Unified Basketball and a brand new branch for Turkey, Unified Bocce.All team sports were Unified Sports involving athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. The Games were organized in collaboration with Pamukkale University and supported by 250 coaches. In all, 400 volunteers from the university supported the games.

Special Olympics Turkey celebrated its 35th anniversary, so it was the central theme of the Games. All athletes enjoyed a 35th Anniversary party with DJ performance. Athletes were screened in five different healthy athletes’ disciplines; MedFest, Health Promotion, Healthy Hearing, FunFitness and Special Smiles.In front of many fans, the Opening Ceremony
