We interviewed Nompendulo Ntshangase a 20-year-old third year Nursing Student from Southern African Nazarene University, a volunteer at Special Olympics Swaziland. Nompendulo has been volunteering at Special Olympics Swaziland since June 2017, whenever the Program had vital screenings.“Volunteering at Special Olympics has been a great experience as it has helped me develop my career skills, it has also helped me decide on what I will do after my nursing bachelor’s degree. Working with children with intellectual disabilities awakened my passion for midwifery." She further applauded Special Olympics for conducting regular vital screenings for people with intellectual disabilities because this will help with early diagnosis of any unknown health issues which will in turn result in early interventions.
“Thank you, Special Olympics Swaziland for opening my eyes, i now know that everyone has the power and potential to do great things despite their disability."
