Special Olympics Hellas in Greece is celebrating a fantastic accomplishment!

Following the unanimous adoption of a law passed by the Greek Parliament, Special Olympics Hellas has been officially recognized as a sports club in Greece.

This means that, for the first time in its history, it will enjoy the same privileges as any other official sports entity in Greece. An important privilege will be the right to request annual funds from the Greek government to cover sports activities.

President of Special Olympics Hellas, Ambassador Dionyssios Kodellas said the movement in Greece is delighted with the news.

“Special Olympics Hellas expresses their gratitude to the Greek State for the great news that will allow us to improve our task to promote the noble values and principles of the Special Olympics movement further.”

This development comes as a result of many months of intensive lobbying efforts with the Ministry of Sports and has been welcomed with enthusiasm by the entire Special Olympics family.
