European Football Week is More than Football in Belarus

By Larisa Tabolina

Well done to all the athletes who competed in the EFW 2014 tournament in Minsk.

For athletes in Belarus, European Football Week 2014 gifted them with great experiences, new friends and excitement for the chance to all meet again. Organised in partnership with the Republic of Belarus Ministry of Sports and Tourism and the Belarus Federation of Football Association a Special Olympics football tournament took place in the city of Minsk. Nine teams from the cities of Borisov, Berezino, Ullah, Gantsevichi, Uulukovye, Tarasiki, Rudensk, and Minsk took part with Gantsevichi winning the tourney. The wonderful volunteers came from the Belarusian State Pedagogical University, and from a number of Minks City high schools. Teams were awarded medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places while special player recognition awards went to best goalkeeper, defender, and best forward.
