Special Olympics Bulgaria celebrated the Special Olympics European Tennis Day by holding a press conference, together with the Bulgarian Tennis Federation (BTF), at the Sport Press Club ”Bulgaria” on 16 June 2014. The conference kicked off a charity auction of the family of Grigor Dimitrov, whose career high singles ATP ranking is No. 12 (May 2014). Dimitrov’s family donated his Hopman Cup T-shirt. Funds will go to support Yummu Halil, a Special Olympics bocce player from Dimitrov’s home town of Haskovo. Halil will compete in the European Games in Antwerp. Also, the Access to Tennis national campaign, a joint initiative with the BTF, became part of Special Olympics Bulgaria’s ongoing “Access to Sport” national campaign for promoting access to sports for people with intellectual disabilities. A representative of the Ministry of Sport and Youth and General Secretary of the Bulgarian Tennis Federation attended the conference. Over 15 national and regional media covered the story.

About Hristo Hristozov: Hristo Hristozov is National Director of Special Olympics Bulgaria.
