Half Marathon in State Athletics Meet

By s ravindrakumar

On Feb 8 and 9, Special Olympics BK organised the state athletics meet at Sree Kanteerava stadium, Bangalore. Six athletes competed in the half marathon and completed the course. I think this is the first time a half marathon event was organised at the state level anywhere in the world for Special Olympics athletes but sure it is the first time in India. The six athletes were Ankush Saha, 1.57.41; Santosh Kumar, 2.00.46: Akshay, 2.28.00; Padma 2.55.00; Vinay 3.09.21; and Chethan 3.13.15. The athletes finished in that order. Kudos to our athletes on their wonderful accomplishment and kudos to Special Olympics BK for having organised the run and allowing these athletes to showcase their talents.
