Happy 21st Birthday IGA and Special Olympics Australia

By Alex McNeilly, General Manager - Special Olympics Australia

Special Olympics athlete Melissa Lee from the Gold Coast, Australia loves pink and bowling

In July 2013, Special Olympics Australia athletes gathered at the annual IGA Metcash Expo - Conference on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Over 1000 guests celebrated our 21 year partnership between Special Olympics Australia and IGA working together to transform lives and communities across the country. Over 8000 athletes with an intellectual disability are provided with the opportunity to discover, reach and achieve their PERSONAL BEST at Special Olympics. Melissa Lee (pictured) is a local athlete who loves Ten Pin Bowling. Melissa also loves pink and decided to dye her hair bright pink for the special ceremony. The crowd cheered Melissa on as she entered the room chanting CHAMPION - CHAMPION - CHAMPION. Her smile lit up the entire ballroom with guests left feeling very proud. Thank you IGA for supporting us to support so many across our great country and allowing so many local champions to enjoy sport

About Alex McNeilly, General Manager - Special Olympics Australia: I believe in stratgic partnerships and alliances, by working together we can accomplish so much more than we can alone.
