Special Olympics athletes had exclusive access to the FCB players who took time to talk with them, shake their hands and sign autographs.
FC Barcelona players paid tribute to Special Olympics footballers at Blumfeld Soccer Stadium in Tel Aviv on Sunday, August 4 in front of an audience of 14,000 fans.
The Special Olympics athletes were participating in an exhibition training session organized by the top club as part of their Peace Tour of Israel.
Huge respect was shown to the Special Olympics athletes when they took to the pitch for photography with the famous players. As the emcee explained how the athletes push themselves everyday to reach their personal best, the audience and FC Barcelona players replied with a long and loud applause.
Mr. Shimon Peres, the President of the State of Israel, and other dignitaries joined the athletes on the field and shook their hands.
The athletes then participated in a joint training session with the Barcelona team which united Arabs, Jews, as well as athletes with and without disabilities.
An unforgettable experience for all!
