Special Olympics Southern California athlete Lucy Meyer visits Senate offices

By Meredith Ciaccia

In preparation for the release of the 2013 UNICEF State of the World’s Children report, which is focused on children with disabilities, Special Olympics Southern California athlete and youth advocate for children with disabilities Lucy Meyer came to Washington, D.C. to promote UNICEF’s recent legislative preview briefing on the report. In addition to promoting attendance at the event, she encouraged action and participation by the Senators and their staff on issues around children with disabilities. "With a little help I play soccer, softball, handball, basketball, tennis . . oh and I love to surf, swim, bike ride, and skateboard! I am in the Special Olympics this year! I am having so much fun just being me!!," Lucy says.
