Summer Games 1968

By Nancy Sigoloff Taback

After volunteering at the St. Louis State School and Hospital throughout my Senior year in High School, a group of us continued to do so in the summer. We heard about the "Special Olympic Games" in Chicago, but couldn't afford to go, so we did our own. We had the 50 yd. Dash, the Softball Throw and the Standing Long jump with homemade ribbons for awards. At my Class Reunions, my classmates are not surprised to learn that I made a career of Therapeutic Recreation and have been a volunteer with Special Olympics since it's inception.

About Nancy Sigoloff Taback: I am a graduate of the University of Missouri (BS) and the University of Central Florida (MA). I have worked in the field of Therapeutic Recreation my entire career and I will retire from Brevard county Parks and Recreation this fall with 35 years of service. I have volunteered with Special Olympics in Missouri and Florida for a total of 45 years.
