Swimmers dive in at Special Olympics Hellas swimming meet

Come on in, the water's fine!

Special Olympics Hellas (Greece), in collaboration with the department "Sport for All" of the Ministry of Sports and Culture organized the National Aquatics Games, held in Athens from 10-12 June 2014, at the Municipal Swimming Sports Centre in Glyfada. One hundred and eighty Special Olympics swimmers from Attica, Alexandroupolis, Rhodes, Corfu and Chania participated. Dignitaries present at the awards ceremony included representatives of Glyfada Metropolitan, town councilors and the Head of the Glyfada Athletic Center. Mrs. Joanna Despotopoulou, President, Special Olympics Hellas, in her remarks, thanked supporters and sponsors including the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Physical Education Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, volunteers, doctors, lifeguards and Samaritans of the Red Cross, judges and timekeepers from the Hellenic Aquatics Federation, The Coca Cola Foundation, Aegean Airlines, OTE-COSMOTE, OPAP, Hellenic Petroleum, 3E and Chiquita.
