Two instructors from Switzerland held seminars on Adapted Physical Activities for Social Inclusion in five sports universities in five cities in Romania from 7 to 12 April 2014. Gabriel Currat, from Special Olympics Switzerland, and Prof. Jerome Barral from the University of Lausanne provided instruction to more than 300 students and professionals working with people with intellectual disabilities. Traveling over 2000 km throughout the country, the instructors and their presentations were enthusiastically received at each university. The seminars, which provided scientific information and methodology on Adapted Physical Activities, are part of a project supported by the Swiss contribution to the enlarged European Union. Special Olympics Romania, National University of Physical Education and Sport Bucharest, Special Olympics Switzerland and the University of Lausanne are project partners. In 2013, Romanian participants attended a seminar in Lausanne. The 18-month project will run until 2015.
