Table Tennis players competed in Ukraine

Ukrainian players from 8 regions at the SO tournament in Uman

The National tournament held on 25-26 February, 2014 in the gym of the Rehabilitation Center in Uman, Cherkasy Region (200km south from Kiev). Symbolic 40 athletes from 8 regions: Poltava, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk , Kharkiv , Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Transcarpatia took part in 2-days competition supported by Deputy Mayor G. Kucher and table tennis federation. "We have planned a year ago to host this tournament in a friendly and tourist city of Uman and it was not a mistake. Despite of very unstable situation in our country, the competition took place and only few SO regional centers couldn't attend " said SO Ukraine Director, Andrew Pidvarko in an interview for TV channels "Saturn" and "Yatran". "At a time when most sporting events are cancelled, thanks to Special Olympics organizers in Uman through goodwill and desire, we were able to gather and host players with intellectual disabilities and provide them safety environment.
