Ten-pin Bowling commonly called "Bowling" in the US, is a competitive sport in which a player (the "bowler") rolles a bowling ball down a wooden or synthetic lane with the objectvie of scoring points by knocking down as many pins as possible.

Although Bowling does not belong to the Olympic sports, it is among the most popular sports in Special Olympics. It is a particularly beneficial sport to people with intellectual disabilities, irrespective of their age or sports abilities, since it ensures physical exercise and at the same time participation and social integration. Plus, it's great fun!

Thanks to Special Olympic Athletes and Committee in Columbus, OH Summer Games

By Eric

This was my first year volunteering at the Special Olympics in Columbus, Ohio for the Summer Games I will say that that was my first of many years to come.View Story This was my first year volunteering at the Special Olympics in Columbus, Ohio for the Summer Games. I decided to make a weekend and called off work for Friday through Sunday. Friday I had a great time helping serve dinner to the athletes and coaches...over 3500 of them were served. Saturday my event was bicycling...I was very impressed with the bicyclists as all of them completed the their respective race. Then on Sunday I was assigned to the bowling competition. I enjoyed helping coordinate my 3 athlete's lanes as they shared high fives, smiles and laughs with me. My assistant who was a competitor the previous day helped me understand the operations of the lanes. Then I had the chance to help the teams to the awards presentations. I will say that that was my first of many years to come. The men and women that I met while there made me feel welcomed and appreciated and I could see the enjoyment that I helped share with them on their faces. My love to all our Athletes!!!!

About Eric :My name is Eric, I am 42 and live in Southern Ohio. I work as a Telecom Technician for a utility provider.
