Special Olympics Ontario is hosting our 2015 Provincial Winter Games from January 29 – Feb 1st, 2015 in North Bay, Ontario. We have a few spaces available in our Speed Skating Competition and would like to extend an invitation to your speed skating athletes to attend. Cost $50 per athlete which includes 3 nights of accommodation, all meals, opening and closing ceremonies, athlete’s victory dance and ground transportation once you arrive at the games. Teams are responsible for their own travel to and from the event. As this is a qualifying competition for National Games for us, we require all athletes to use regulation speed skates. Illinois Winter Games

What is Winter Games? Winter Games is one of 9 state sports competitions. It is the culminating competition for those participating in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Winter Games is hosted at Chestnut Mountain in Galena, Illinois. Approximately 400 athletes will compete in this 3-day event and show off their winning form! Sports competition runs from Tuesday, February 3, to Thursday, February 5. The public is invited and encouraged to attend any and all parts of Special Olympics Illinois Winter Games. Gaylord Polar Plunge

The Gaylord Polar Plunge takes place Feb. 7, 2015. Registration begins at 9:30 am with the Plunge taking place at 11:00 am. After Splash Bash will happen following the last plunger. Michigan is having 29 Polar Plunges in 2015. Polar Plunges are a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event. LETR is one of the largest grassroots fundraisers for Special Olympics globally. LETR consists of officers from both Law Enforcement and Corrections who raise funds and create awareness for Special Olympics Michigan year round. By participating in a Polar Plunge around the state you are helping to raise funds for nearly 21,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Michigan. Special Olympics Michigan is a year round program offering sports for those with intellectual disabilities. Although sports is the "vehicle," the ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate and receive respect as members of their communities.
