Torch Run - Super Plunge

This year marks the 8th Annual Torch Run Plunge. This event typically hosts between 100-150 participants, many representing local and state police agencies as well as fire departments and public safety. Many athletes take the plunge with fellow friend, family and supporters, all of whom are there to support a great cause. This event features live music, a well-known "plunger costume" competition, and a fantastic after party! The Super Plunge is an effort to increase both awareness and fundraising for the Torch Run Plunge. The Super Plunge is exactly like the Torch Run Plunge, with only one small difference... Instead of plunging a single time, "Super Plungers" must plunge once PER HOUR for a 24 HOUR period. 5 MEN, 24 HOURS, 120 PLUNGES for 1 SUPER CAUSE!

The Legislative Polar Plunge takes place on March 5, 2015. Registration and the Plunge start at 3:00 pm. Michigan is having 29 Polar Plunges in 2015. Polar Plunges are a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) event. LETR is one of the largest grassroots fundraisers for Special Olympics globally. LETR consists of officers from both Law Enforcement and Corrections who raise funds and create awareness for Special Olympics Michigan year round. By participating in a Polar Plunge around the state you are helping to raise funds for nearly 21,000 athletes who participate in Special Olympics Michigan. Special Olympics Michigan is a year round program offering sports for those with intellectual disabilities. Although sports is the "vehicle," the ultimate goal of Special Olympics is to help persons with intellectual disabilities participate and receive respect as members of their communities.

Big Bear Polar Plunge - Big Bear Lake

The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and anyone to support people with intellectual disabilities by running (or pretending to jump) into the chilly waters at Big Bear Lake. A few hundred people are expected to weather the cold and plunge into 36-degree waters on March 7, 2015 to support Special Olympics Inland Empire. Each participant who raises a minimum of $50 gets a long sleeve shirt, lunch, a goody bag, and can enjoy the festivities (either by taking the plunge or watching from the "Chicken Coop"). Raise more than $50, and you will have the opportunity to earn cool and fun prizes.
