Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance, and apparatus manipulation. Individuals or teams of competitors (from 2 to 6 people) manipulate one or two pieces of apparatus: rope, clubs, hoop, ball, ribbon and Free (no apparatus, so called "floor routine").

Two new online quizzes on powerlifting and rhythmic gymnastics are a good way to review and learn about the Special Olympics approach to these sports in a low-pressure quiz format.View Story Two new online quizzes on powerlifting and rhythmic gymnastics are a good way to review and learn about the Special Olympics approach to these sports in a low-pressure quiz format. The quizzes are designed for coaches to diagnose gaps in knowledge, but they're useful for everyone involved in these sports. New officials will find the quizzes quite valuable. With the addition of these new quizzes, the Resources site now has more than a dozen quizzes. Most are on sports, but others cover Special Olympics General Rules and the history of Special Olympics. Special Olympics Southern California 2014 Summer Invitational Games

Los Juegos de verano de Special Olympics Sur de California 2014, se llevaron a cabo del 5 al 9 de Junio, en la Universidad del Sur de California.View Story The Special Olympics Southern California 2014, Summer Games took place from 5 to 9 June at the University of Southern California. With the participation of 1,200 athletes from 28 SO Southern California local programs and 150 athletes from 12 international programs including the following countries: SO Taipei China, Costa Rica SO, SO Egypt, Britain SO, SO Indonesia, Iraq SO, SO Macau, Mexico SO, SW Japan, SW Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates SO, SO Hong Kong. They participated in 6 Sports: Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Bocce, Gymnastics and Special Golf. Special Olympics Baja Mexico California represented our country in two sports, Athletics and Swimming, with a delegation of 23 athletes, 2 coaches, 2 assistant coaches, 2 auxiliaries 1 delegate and 1 assistant delegate. They return to Mexico with 11 Gold, 18 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals.

In most cases, Special Olympics will select officials who are already certified by a related sports federation and who have Special Olympics officiating experience. Special Olympics in the Middle East - N. Africa region will host coaching training seminars for Special Olympics Powerlifting, Tennis & Gymnastics 20-24 October in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. For each sport the training seminars will cover the basics of coaching Special Olympics athletes, principles of coaching, nutrition, safety and fitness, preparing the athletes for competition, sport safety and risk management.

Special Olympics National Games 2014 Melbourne

The 10th Special Olympics Australia National Games will involve more than 1,200 athletes of all levels competing in 16 Olympic and demonstration sports and events. These Games offer the opportunity for athletes to be selected to represent Australia at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2015. For the majority of competitors, the National Games in Melbourne represents the culmination of four years of competing at local, regional and state level. Competing in the same world-class venues as their Olympic heroes, our Special Olympics athletes will perform in front of their proud parents, friends, supporters and the wider community. Athletes of all abilities will compete in 16 Olympic style sports including AFL and netball as demonstration sports across iconic sporting venues in Melbourne. Other special events include: Healthy Athletes Program, Young Athlete Program (2–7 year old), Athlete Leadership & Ambassador Program, Family Functions Social Outing, Law Enforcement Torch Run, Opening and Closing Ceremonies

World Summer Games Los Angeles 2015

In July of 2015 more than 7,000 athletes from 170 countries will come to Los Angeles, California for the Special Olympics World Summer Games and enjoy 10 days full of joy, friendship and competition. Athletes will compete in 22 sports. The event expects to attract 500,000 spectators and 30,000 volunteers and 3,000 coaches.
