Russell Wolff is a Managing Director at Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm with over $80 billion in assets under management, where he focuses on the firm's strategic investments in Sports, Media, and Entertainment.
Prior to joining Sixth Street in 2024, Wolff served as Executive Vice President/General Manager of ESPN+ at ESPN/ Walt Disney. In this role, he was responsible for business and strategic leadership, management, and day-to-day oversight of ESPN+. Under his leadership, ESPN+ grew from 900,000 to 25M subscribers.
Prior to leading ESPN+, Wolff served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of ESPN International, where he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of ESPN’s international businesses. He joined ESPN in 1997 as Vice President at ESPN international in Hong Kong and worked at ESPN Star Sports in Singapore. Prior to ESPN, he worked at MTV Networks and began his career in 1989 in Client Service at Leo Burnett Company. Wolff was a long serving member on the boards of ESPN, Inc., NBA China, ESPN STAR Sports (Asia,) and CTV Specialty (Canada-TSN/RDS.)
He led ESPN’s relationship with the Special Olympics from 2014 through 2023 including ESPN’s broadcasts of Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, USA (2015,) Schladming, Austria (2017,) Abu Dhabi, UAE (2019,) and Berlin, Germany (2023.) Wolff also led ESPN’s efforts to commemorate Special Olympics 50th Anniversary.
He earned an AB degree in Government from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School. He is the former President of the Dartmouth Alumni Council and sits on the Board of Advisors of the Tuck School.
