Heidi is an athlete from Alberton, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She has been involved with Special Olympics for the past 15 years. She has participated in golf, bowling, bocce, and snowshoeing. Her favorite sport is golf.
She believes it is a right and a privilege to speak up for herself and be a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.
Over the past few years, she has had many leadership opportunities serving on numerous boards and committees of organizations for people with disabilities. These include, People First of Canada, PEI People First (past president), Special Olympics Canada Athletes’ Leadership Council, Special Olympics PEI Board of Directors, and Global Athlete Leadership Council (GALC). In June 2021, she was voted as the chair of the GALC.
Over the past year she has had the opportunity to take part in many webinars to talk about the advocacy work that she does with people with intellectual disabilities.
Heidi volunteers and visits seniors who live alone in the community. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
