Despite the challenges she faces, Paige is a surprisingly natural athlete. It doesn’t matter what sport it is, her coaches say she participates and excels.
Yet, she’s humble by demonstrating the best qualities of a true sportsperson; also a naturally positive person who has overcome adversity in life.
Says her mom: “Paige fights through every challenge that has come her way, from when she was first diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 to her diagnosis of epilepsy at 8 years old. She never gives up and smiles through it all. When I ask her if she wants to take a break her answer is always no."
Recently at a track meet, she had a seizure 20 minutes before her event. When the seizure was over, she rested for about 10 minutes and then said, ‘Ok I'm good to go.’ She then threw the discus and got her Personal Record of the season. She loves being part of a team whether that's in track or as a part of other school events. It gives her a sense of purpose.
