On June 1st, 75 young athletes with and without intellectual disabilities from Special Olympics Cyprus, together with MetLife’s volunteers participated at the Unified Football project during Special Olympics European Football week.
Special Olympics Cyprus Young Athletes demonstrated their special skills in football at Nuevo Campo Football fields in Nicosia. The event aimed to provide an opportunity to promote respect, acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. MetLife Cyprus supported the event for a second year and provided volunteers throughout the day.
Many honoured guests were present to support the cause. Among them were football celebrities, representatives from the Cyprus Sports Organization and the Cyprus Football Association.
MetLife and MetLife Foundation’s generous support towards the Young Athletes Program and Unified Football promoted the goal towards a more inclusive society.
