Digital Accessibility: How Brightspot and Special Olympics Are Changing the Game

Parker Ramsdell, Senior Vice President of People, Mission & Culture at Brightspot

On this week’s episode of Inclusion Revolution Radio, hosts Josh Basile, from accessiBe, and Novie Craven speak with Parker Ramsdell, Brightspot’s Senior Vice President of People, Mission & Culture. Brightspot, a leader in content management systems, has partnered with Special Olympics for more than a decade, showcasing the powerful effects of technology companies and nonprofits uniting for a shared cause. Parker leverages his experience implementing Special Olympics Unified Sports® Experiences at Special Olympics World Games to drive inclusive workplace initiatives.

Parker oversees the company’s people operations, focusing on implementing strategies that empower employees to thrive in their roles and support their long-term personal and professional growth. Simultaneously, he works on fostering an inclusive, growth-oriented, and collaborative culture within the organization. Since joining Brightspot in 2013, Parker has also been instrumental in guiding the company's community partnerships, particularly in support of its three charitable pillars—people with intellectual disabilities, youth and wounded veterans. Through these partnerships, he provides employees with meaningful opportunities to serve their community.

With the support of Brightspot, Special Olympics has enhanced its digital presence, amplifying the message of inclusivity to a global audience. The impact of this collaboration is evident within the Special Olympics movement, from fundraising initiatives to spreading awareness. The impact is most visible in increased fundraising results and enhanced donor engagement through the website.

For Brightspot, partnering with Special Olympics has enabled the integration of inclusivity into its company culture. Brightspot relies on input from Special Olympics to have a positive impact, prioritizing digital accessibility for all customers. Working with Special Olympics has prompted other technology companies to emulate their approach.
