Special Olympics Ethiopia held its first ever Families & Siblings workshop which attracted an overwhelming turnout of over 60 parents and siblings of people with intellectual disabilities held on 16 September. The event served as a great reminder of why our founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver (a sibling herself) founded Special Olympics. With the support of our partner Samuel Family Foundation, we Engaged, Educated and Empowered Families and Siblings as per the theme. The workshop topics covered a general orientation to Special Olympics, health and nutrition, Special Olympics Healthy Athletes programming as well as effective story telling from families and siblings. The next Families & Siblings workshop will take place in October.
